Microsoft promises better gaming on Windows 10 with upcoming ‘Game Mode’

With the upcoming Creators Update, Microsoft says it is aiming to make Windows ten “the best Windows ever for gaming” by introducing a new Game Mode as well as teasing Beam, its own alternative to Twitch-style game broadcasting.

Particular information about Game Mode and how it’ll operate are at present fairly thin, though Microsoft promises it will “optimise your Windows 10 Pc for improved functionality in gaming”. The new mode is currently popping up in the most recent Windows ten preview construct (15007), even though, as it isn’t yet fully implemented, it is not clear if activating the function truly does anything.

Microsoft acquired Beam in August of final year. Even though it is comparable in many approaches to the well-known game-streaming service Twitch, Beam will also enable viewers to participate in the action in various exclusive ways, such as crowdsourcing in-game decisions or even playing along.

Xbox One shares the entertaining

Beam will be coming to both Windows 10 and Xbox One as part of the Creators Update that’s due sometime among March and May possibly 2017, and will integrate with your Xbox Reside account without the need for any further software.

The Xbox A single will also see updates to Microsoft’s Arena service, an organized tournament platform, and an overhaul that aims to streamline the ‘Guide’ function – both of which promise improvements in social connectivity and all round optimisation.
